Date night and us!

We are headed out this evening for a date night. Not sure if it will be dinner and a movie, dinner and a gourmet market or sitting at Starbucks but the important thing is that we are together. This was one of our engagement pictures and one that I remember feeling like it was a picture of how relationship feels sometimes. Sometimes we both have our views and are heading in a certain direction. Our goal and heart is for oneness. We are so grateful for one another and the gift that we feel that one another is. God is good and listen to you heart. Honestly we had a few who tried to discourage our marriage. It is hard to imagine that others would possibly think that they could know what the Lord has for someone else. So glad we didn't listen. Right now in our marriage we are really tuning into the Lord to see specifically what he desires for us in several areas. It has been a year of change and several unexpected trials. We are grateful that we are both on the same page, seeking the Lord and desiring daily to walk closer to Him and hand in hand together.

Guy stuff

On Sunday when Dad and mama Sylvia were out Jacob and the men went outside for a bit to watch the blue angels. It was a surprise blessing! A air show right over our home. What guy wouldn't love that?! They all enjoyed it and tried to capture the planes on their cameras. Jacob hung out with them for a bit and enjoyed doing a guy thing. Later that evening we were driving and Jacob said that he though Grandpa Mason was fun! This was his first time to meet him and he enjoyed it. Sam stayed inside with us gals because although the planes were amazing to watch they were also incredibly loud!!!!

A blessed visit!

We were so blessed today with a visit from Dad and Mama Sylvia. It was a treasured time and one we wish could have been longer. We were very happy with our photos and some of the shots we captured. Trae will be in the town they live in soon and will get to visit with them again. We look forward to many more memories together. Thank you for the goodies you brought us too! I am looking forward to trying your salsa and yes ma'am you are more than welcome to come cook for us sometime!!! That would be delightful!!!

Something new!

One new thing I have enjoyed doing with Sam is making his baby food. Both of my older boys had store bought jarred food. I have really enjoyed making it from fresh or frozen veggies and fruit. I cook it, puree it and than freeze it in the ice cube trays and than dethaw it for his meal. He is not a picky eater and seems to enjoy pretty much most foods. Sweet potatoes are one of his favorites and applesauce. He has had about 10 different veggies and 6 fruits. He will start on meat next month and for now is loving mum mums and cheerios.

Steps...

Sam has been taking steps with his toy. He very quickly learned to walk across the room while holding on! He is on strong boy! He got his 3rd tooth this week too.

Our little Mac user!

Sam LOVES to find his way to my Macbook. He tries to pound and pound on the keys. He is so quick in getting around.

A favorite fall recipe.

I don't usually post recipes on here but I wanted to post one of our fall favorites. It is perfect with a crisp apple and have found it to be a great hit at gatherings. It keeps great in the fridge for a few days too. I just heat it up and serve with sliced apples.

Caramel apple dip

INGREDIENTS

  • 16 individually wrapped caramels, unwrapped
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

DIRECTIONS

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium-low heat, or in the microwave, melt caramels with water, stirring frequently. Remove from heat. In a medium bowl, cream together cream cheese and sugar. Fold in caramel mixture. Serve immediately.
Enjoy!!!

Sam's first words!

Today Sam is 8 months and 20 days and he said his first words today! We have been working on him saying Da da, Ma ma and ba ba (brother) and this was his very precious attempt at brother! His big brother Andrew captured it for us this evening.

Thank you...

Today Trae and I were sitting here talking and he looked at me and said thank you for having Sam. I told him you are welcome and he could keep thanking me because motherhood never ends! ;)
